Parliament and Legislatures

  • Parliamentary Internet The Parliamentary Internet Parlementaire is your key to Canadian parliamentary information on the Internet. On this server you will find information on the role, history and activities of the Senate, the House of Commons and the Library of Parliament.
  • House of Commons Hansard
  • CPAC online Information provided by the Canadian Public Affairs Channel about the channel and about Canadian government
  • Legislative Assemblies of Canada contains information on Parliament and the provincial legislatures AND the political parties that have representatives in them; the site is maintained by Carnegie Mellon University and its a shame that its not in Canada!
  • Senate Reform Website The blurb at this site states: For too long, Prime Ministers have used the Senate as a retirement home for political buddies. It’s unaccountable, expensive and certainly doesn’t represent ordinary Canadians. But we can change that.
  • Canadian Parliamentary Review A journal with online articles
  • Today on Parliament Hill Daily update of what is going on, what Parliament is doing, what the committees are doing, what individual Members are doing

  • Decision '97 was Canoe's site for the 1997 federal election campaign. It is still available, and provides an excellent insight into the campaign and the results.
  • Canada Votes, Election '97 is Southam's site for the 1997 federal election. It too, is still available.
  • Federal Elections from 1867 to 1993 from CANOE

Individual Stations / Web Sites:

  • CBC Radio has audio news every hour; the site has links to other parts of the CBC network, including CBC news.
  • CBC Newsworld Online is an excellent source for online news and politics.
  • BBC News Online Network presents British and world news. A problem with the site is its Java applets, which slows down loading considerably.
  • CNN Interactive provides American and world news
  • Fox News provides American and world news in live broadcasts and archived video clips.
